We went over to check out the all new Allegretto Vineyard Resort in Paso Robles last week and see how their restaurant was. As of right now I believe they are only open for breakfast and lunch but dinner is in their future plans. So let’s dive into my thoughts.
As we pulled on to the property we noticed all the beautiful landscaping. The mature olive trees really stood out to me. There were also a couple of bocce ball courts in the front surrounded by plants, walk ways, and seating areas. Based on this it seems like they really want people to come and hang out…stay awhile and enjoy!
The lobby has high ceilings and a grand staircase (stairway to heaven) that leads you to…well…the second floor. If you walk through the lobby to the next space it appears to be a sitting room with a small conference or banquet room off to one side. If you continue through this space you end up in this huge courtyard. It was pretty impressive. It almost felt like you weren’t in Paso Robles anymore.
After walking around for a bit we went into the restaurant and were seated immediately. The décor was well done, not over the top in my mind but not ultra-casual. The bar looked awesome and I should know since I’m a professional when it comes to sitting at bars. There’s also some outdoor seating that faces west which will be great when they start dinner service…a great sunset spot.
The breakfast menu looked great. You’ll see that in the photos below. I ended up ordering the Duck Hash with Cal Poly Quail Eggs (side of arugula and dandelion salad tossed with blood orange vinaigrette, $20.00) and Annie got the Smoked Salmon Omelet (Santa Barbara smoked salmon, Bermuda onions, capers, & cream cheese, $20.00). Annie’s omelet also came with home style potatoes but it’s not listed on the menu.
I ended up eating all of my duck hash and a fair amount of Annie’s potatoes. It was so good. Annie enjoyed her salmon omelet as well. I’d say my only complaint about breakfast was that service was a touch slow for my liking and if I had to guess the lady that waited on us doesn’t have much hospitality or food industry background. Now, she was very nice but just seemed to lag a bit. Often times this can be excused because they just opened so time will tell.
I see this being a place where Annie and I go have a couple of drinks and appetizers from time to time. Possibly even enjoying a spirited game of bocce ball, although I’m not sure what I mean by spirited but it sounded good. Wow, we have the same sentiments. Went last night for a tour and drinks at the bar. It is transporting! They brilliantly achieved an old Tuscan feel with new construction, with their antique embellishments. We loved it. It was 98 yesterday in Paso and we restrained ourselves from posing as guests and jumping in their lovely pool. The mature trees were a standout for us too, there were many HUGE Cyprus too – I shudder to think of all the water use though. Good local start to the wine and beer list at the bar, hey Barrelhouse Curly Wolf on tap – bravo!! Dinner service starts on 10/21 and they have a very small tapas (but good sounding) menu on Fri/Sat from 5-8. I wanted to move in…soooo pretty…
