Paso Robles Wine: Bodegas Paso Robles

February 5, 2016 matt Leave a Comment

Bodegas Paso Robles is a winery we haven’t been to in about six years and I’m not really sure why. Dorothy Schuler, owner and winemaker (notice I didn’t say female winemaker, here’s why), is an intriguing Paso Robles wine personality and makes delicious wines. On this visit Dorothy was not in but Maxwell took great care of us.

Here’s what we tasted:

2014 Galicia (100% Albariño) $25.oo

2014 Doña Blanca (50% Garnacha Blanca 50% Malvasia Bianca) $25.00

2014 Rosado (100% Garnacha) $23.00

2009 Solea (86% Tempranillo 14% Graciano) $35.00

2012 ¡Viva Yo! (90% Tempranillo 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) $31.00

2010 Vaca Roja (75% Monastrell 25% Garnacha) $35.00

2010 Pimenteiro (67% Trousseau 33% Tempranillo) $33.00

2010 Garnacha (100% Garnacha) $35.00

2011 Tinta Cão (100% Tinta Cão) $41.00

2011 Trousseau (100% Trousseau) $37.00

Many interesting varieties for Paso Robles. Always interesting to expand the palette a bit. Really enjoyed the wines. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy any of them. As big white wine and Rose drinkers, we really enjoyed the first 3 on the list. Out of the reds the Viva Yo, Pimenteiro, and Trousseau really stood out to me.

Dorothy started her label in 2002 and opened up the tasting room on 13th St. in downtown Paso in 2008. She normally makes roughly 1,500 cases but Maxwell was saying this year will be more like 700.

Glad we stopped in to check them out. Have you tasted at Bodegas Paso Robles?
