I’m a little behind on blog posts but you know, life happens. This one is about the Paso Robles ArtsFest. It was held on May 28 in our downtown park and was absolutely loaded with so many different types of art…paintings, photography, sculpture, glass, wood working, leather, jewelry, and more. There is plenty going on for both the adults and the kids. In one corner of the park they have face painting, glitter tattoos, and a place for drawing and coloring.
Over in front of Studios on the Park there are sandboxes for the kids to make sand castles while right nest to those is the big sandbox where a couple of artists were making a large sand castle that you will see in the slideshow below. There were large 3D pyramid shapes that kids could paint on as well. One of Sammy’s favorites were the three dancers from Cantinas. He was utterly enthralled. You can see some of those photos in the slideshow below as well.
I like this event for three reasons, 1) the art and creativity, 2) the vibe, and 3) the friendly atmosphere and diverse group of people. I’m a big believer that we are each creative. Some of us suppress that or never go on that inner journey to find and cultivate it…but we all have something. This event highlights the people that follow their artistic passion. The people that have gotten over any fear of sharing their art with the world.
We need more of that. We need more art. I’m glad that Paso Robles has become a place for artists. This is largely due to Anne Laddon and Studios on the Park. It’s good for our community and wonderful for our children. If you have not attended this event be on the lookout for it in 2017. In the mean time you can always head down to Studios on the Park on Pine Street across from the downtown park.
Check out the slideshow below for an idea of what the event is like.
