We recently met our friend Lisa up at Graveyard Vineyards so she could do her monthly themed photo shoot of us. This time it was for Father’s Day. One thing I’ve learned though, is you can’t go to a winery and just take photos. You must partake in the wine. We knew that going into this so Annie and Lisa brought a little picnic as well.
Annie and I have not been to Graveyard Vineyards in, I’m guessing, six or more years. I’m glad we decided to meet there. Since our last visit they have a new tasting room (they used to taste out of their home) and a large outdoor sitting area. The views are amazing and the pond is a nice added feature. It comes complete with a dock you can walk out on, a boat you can row around in, AND it’s stocked with fish for your fishing pleasure.
Here’s what was on the tasting menu:
2015 Spanish Castle Queen (Paso Robles Albarinio) $27.00
2015 Cold Roses (Paso Robles Viognier) $33.00
2015 Pretty in Pink (Paso Robles Rose) $23.00
2015 Tombstone Pink (Paso Robles Rose) $18.00
Paso Tombstone Blend (Paso Robles Red Wine Blend) $20.00
2013 Carriage Vineyards Grenache $43.00
2013 STP (Paso Robles Red Wine Blend) $39.00
2014 Graveyard Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon $38.00
2014 Graveyard Vineyards Syrah $28.00
2014 MPC (Paso Robles Red Wine Blend) $50.00
Deliverance (Enhanced Port Style Dessert Wine) $28.00
There were a few wines we did not try from the menu but we did enjoy the Cold Roses Viognier, Tombstone Pink, Tombstone Red, as well as the Carriage Vineyards Grenache. It was a good line-up of wines. Meaning, I’m sure everyone could find something off that list to enjoy.
I’m glad Lisa wanted to do the photo shoot there. Not having been in so long it gave me new reasons to get back there to enjoy the pond, the views, and a bottle of wine. It would be a great spot to meet friends, take a picnic, and just enjoy a summer day in Paso Robles (it’s actually San Miguel).
You can check out some of the photos below to get a sense of the vibe and scenery. Until next time, cheers!
