Where to Eat: Blue Moon Over Avila

December 21, 2018 matt Leave a Comment

Blue Moon over Avila is a relatively new restaurant in Avila Beach right across from the Pacific Ocean. So yes, we sat on the patio and had stunning California views. Who would have thought you could find a French bistro in Avila?

It’s really a beautiful little spot. The ambiance is perfect, the service was awesome, and the food…delicious! Here’s what we ordered:

Escargot – in garlic butter with pinch of bleu cheese $14.00

Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail – four wild-caught white shrimp with tangy cocktail sauce $14.00

Traditional Croque Monsieur – baked with bechamel and gruyere $15.00

Chocolate Raspberry Mousse with Vanilla and Pistachio Ice Cream Sandwiches $13.00

The food was awesome although I had none of the dessert dish which was Sammy’s. Lucky kid, his metabolism is faster than mine so he can eat whatever. He did, however, try escargot for the first time and loved the sauce and graded the actual escargot as ‘medium’. We thought it was great! Super legit food at one of my favorite places on earth…the Pacific Ocean.

Side note, the wine and beer lists are quite nice as well. Something for everyone.

So the question is, have you been to Blue Moon yet?
