Okay, so Roots on Railroad (a joint venture between Chris Beckett and Katie Castillo) will be the restaurant at The Backyard Beer Garden on the corner of 13th Street and Railroad Street when it all opens up BUT, they have been doing pop-ups at places like Tin City Cider for some time now, which we’ve been fortunate to imbibe in.
The other cool thing they offer…prepped meals for your enjoyment. Annie ordered from their recent menu. Here’s what we had:
Shrimp Louis $10
Grilled shrimp, hard boiled egg, romaine lettuce, shredded cabbage, tomatoes, green onions and a lite louis dressing
Chile Relleno Burrito Bowl $10
Seasoned chicken breast and roasted poblano peppers over brown rice and topped with shredded cheese, pico de Gallo and chipotle sauce
**upgrade to organic chicken: $2
**lower carb option: sub cauliflower rice
**vegetarian option: sub black beans for chicken
Albondigas Soup $10
Turkey and quinoa meatballs with veggies and potatoes in a flavorful broth
**upgrade to organic turkey: $2
The food was awesome. I really liked the soup and the burrito bowl and Annie really enjoyed the shrimp Louie. The containers that the food came in are solid (no spills) and reusable.
