Wine has only been a part of my life for about four years but in certain ways it has been the biggest influence on where I am today in regards to my marriage, friendships, and general life views. My wife and I have continued to grow more and more passionate about wine and the “wine life” over the last few years and most of our friendships are with people who share in this passion.
I was not a wine drinker when I met my wife but she slowly brought me in to this world and now I wonder if my addiction is worse than hers. Wine is something we always come together for and discuss often. Our adventures in wine have been extremely educational but most importantly, they have brought more fun and laughter than anything else.
The friendships we have made in the wine world are true, deep, and amazing. I could talk for hours about the different people we’ve met and become friends with but to put it in a nutshell, the wine world is made up of some truly amazing human beings; from the social side of it, to the business side, to the philanthropic. I marvel at our group of friends and often pinch myself to make sure my world is real.
I would say the oddest (or maybe not so odd) thing that wine has brought to me is a calmer view on the world. Through conversations over wine or simply sitting in a place of quiet with my wife enjoying a superb glass of wine, it has relaxed me and made me listen more. It goes back to wine truly being a “lifestyle” and not just a beverage. Wine is a gateway to thought, to conversation, to growth, to listening and pondering. Don’t get me wrong, it’s also a delicious way to get a buzz, but the world behind wine is a very special place. Whether you’re an amateur or a seasoned veteran, there is a place for everyone in the world of wine. It’s an inviting place so come on in and take a load off. Welcome!
